SPANISH FOOTBALL - LA LIGA 2009/2010 - ROUND 10 SUNDAY GAMES RESULTS

D-Man

While Kobe and LeBron get the spotlight, D-wade has been on a tear the last few weeks. He averaged 31 points and 9 assists per game for the month of February. He is averaging 39 points and 11 assists for the month of March. Incredible! He is leading a team to the playoffs that has no business being above .500. His team is worse than Kobe and LeBron's but he is playing at the same level as those two superstars. He is the NBA's leading scorer dropping almost 30 per night and dishing out 7.5 assists per game. Wade even grabs 5 boards per game, 2 steals and 1.4 blocks per game. D-Wade does it all for the Heat.

USA 1, England 1

England earned a hugely deserved 1-1 draw against the USA today to earn their first Four Nations Tournament point.
Kelly Smith was presented with the Player of the Match award as The Three Lions dominated the side who are ranked number two in the world.

USA 3, Sweden 2

The U.S. Women's National Soccer Team opened its 2006 domestic schedule with a wild 3-2 win over Sweden on an oppressively hot day at the National Sports Center as U.S. captain Kristine Lilly scored the dramatic winning goal in the second minute of stoppage time.

WPSL grows to 54 teams

In a big year of firsts and new clubs in the Puget Sound area you can now add the Seattle Synergy to your soccer radar. This fledgling club will play in the Women's Premier Soccer League (WPSL) in 2009 and give local female players a stepping stone to the W-League and Women's Professional Soccer (WPS.)

This league is 54 teams strong nationwide. Top names like Tony Diccio have coached in this league (Connecticut) and now he's with the WPS team the Boston Breakers. This league is serious women's soccer! This can create a great WPS feeder system.

Ride it like you have been chased by a ghost

Tuesday 21 July 2008
Sorry for late posting guys, I had problems here with my works, I promise it won't happen again next time... :)

OK let's talk about race in Laguna Seca... It was amazing, WHAT A RACE!!! it has been a while I don't see such kind of race and it was a thriller to see the dog fight between two best riders nowadays. It was proved in the end that only a smart, patience, and has an endless ammos will win the battle. Stoner was great, he was absolutely fast and you can't deny that, he was even faster t! han the leader, Rossi, for 0.02 second, and he was always faster 1 second than Chris Vermeulen who was fighting very hard to reach Parc Ferme in the 3rd place.

But Stoner couldn't pass Rossi, he tried very hard several times and you can see that his bike was going wider (side by side with Rossi) when he reached the turn but couldn't fast enough to overtake Rossi because Rossi closed the door tight. Rossi could do that because the circuit is tight and short one, if it were like Shanghai, the story would be much different. Stoner was frustrated and he pushed so hard early out of the turn and brake later than Rossi, but Rossi even brake longer than he expected. He did pass Rossi several times but Rossi fought back at all cost. His frustration really burnt out his head until he went wide but still on the track and finally in turn 11 with 8 laps to go, he went into the gravel and crashing at low speed because he lost his front (FYI, the sand was quite deep in that s! ection) and crashed at low speed. He is done and Rossi won the! fierce battle and the race.

How could Rossi do that? it is a simple thing to do, according to Mat Mladin (AMA Superbike rider) Rossi knew his bike slower than Stoner and he knew Stoner gained advantage of more power owns by his Ducati, so he put his bike always in front of Stoner and held him tight behind, in such short circuit, more power and speed is not really an advantage. He stayed right on the racing line and made Stoner over-ride the Ducati to get by him, and Stoner will find no way to get through.

Stoner was furious of his defeat, he moaned, but in the end maybe he will regret of what he has said to the media and Rossi himself. It was a race and only the one who has the smartest strategy to win.

Another point in Laguna Seca were Hayden was slower than Dovizioso :( Bad for him and the fans and the poor performance of Michelin's riders, Michelin admitted the mistake and promised to bounce back in Brno. But Let's see what will happen.

Congratulation to Rossi and his fans... I know you are full of smile now... :D

Crusaders crushed

Something almost unbelievable has happened in the Super 14 this morning. The Crusaders suffered their first defeat of the season at the hands of the Chiefs in Hamilton. The North Islanders were 18-0 up at half-time and despite a scoreless second half went on to win 18-5.

Richie Maccaw, one of the world's best fetcher-flankers, and the rest of the Saders forwards, were bullied at the breakdown, while the backs were let down by poor handling.

Steven Donald, who has had a quiet, if not poor season, played out of his socks today, both on attack and defence, and also kicked a conversion and two penalties.

The first half tries came from Sitivini Sivivatu and Simms Davison, while Andrew Ellis touched down for the Crusaders' only points.

The result means the Sharks will narrow the gap with the Crusaders to only two points if they get a bonus point win over the Brumbies tomorrow.

The Chiefs are third on the log with 27 points, on! ly four ahead of the Stormers.

Cannavaro undergo's surgery

Italy's Fabio Cannavaro has had ankle surgery and will be out of action for two months. The Italian skipper tore ankle ligaments while training with the Italian squad ahead of the Euro 2008 tournament. Cannavaro decided to undergo surgery in Vienna so he could remain close to his team mates.

Tri Nations crunch time

Tommorrow sees the decider of the 2008 Tri Nations, but sadly, the world champions play no part. The Suncorp Stadium in Brisbane plays host to the All Blacks versus Australia.

New Zealand and Australia have played each other twice so far this season, and it stands at one win apiece. Both of those victories were big ones, and they came within a week of each other – Australia smashed the All Blacks in Sydney, and the Kiwis returned the favour and then some in Auckland. The All Blacks are still slight favourites, but they are expecting a big backlash from the Aussies, and have said the Boks did them no favours by h! ammering Robbie Deans's side in South Africa.

Champion Bladeriders to thrill Cape Town

The thrilling sport of competitive 'bladeriding' hits Cape Town for the first time when two PUMA mini il mostro foiling Bladerider Moths take on three South African craft in a Bladerider Moth Regatta at the V&A Waterfront on Saturday November 8 and Sunday November 9.

The regatta is the first event of its kind in Africa and the PUMA craft will be sailed by Martin Gravare, who represented Sweden at the Olympics, and Rohan Veal who is the 2005 and 2007 Moth World Champion. Five craft will take par! t; three from South Africa and the two PUMA boats. PUMA Ocean Racing are currently in town with their yacht il mostro competing in the Volvo Ocean Race 2008-09.

The racing will take place outside the harbour breakwater between 10am and 1pm, weather permitting, and the public will be able to view the action from the pier. The moths will take part in 3 to 4 races with each race taking 20 minutes to complete. The aim of the regatta is to demonstrate the foiling moths to the public during the Volvo Ocean Race stopover at the V&A Waterfront.

Bladerider Moths are one of the fastest growing small boat classes in the world. Lifting out of the water in just five knots of winds and achieving boat speeds of over 25 knots in 20 knots of breeze, these boats dart around on their hydrofoils just like their namesakes, moths in the night.

British sports stars honoured

Britain has awarded its sports stars from the 2008 Beijing Olympics in the New Year's Honours List.

Chris Hoy, cycling triple gold medalist at this years games, got one of the highest accolades when he was knighted for being the first Briton to win three gold medals in 100 years

Hoy was also awarded the BBC's Best Sports Personality of the Year earlier this month.

Sir Chris said it was an honuor.

"It's still sinking in, it's not something you ever expect to happen to you so I am just delighted and it's and amazing way to end the year."

Swimmer Rebecca Adlington received an OBE as she picked up two gold medals in the 400 metre and 800 metre freestyle in Beijing.

Thirteen-year-old paralympic swimmer Eleanor Simmonds was awarded an MBE after she became the youngest Briton to win an individual gold medal at the games.

Meanwhile, Lewis Hamilton capped off his fantastic year ! in style when he also got an MBE.

The 23-year-old became the first driver in 12 years to take the Formula One title as Damon Hill last won it in 1996.

Proteas to defy form trend

As far as I know, only two people have picked up on this, myself and a loyal Cape Talk listener. South Africa beat Australia 2 - 1 in the test series down under, with Australia coming back to take both T20 internationals. The South Africans then gave the Baggy Greens a 4 - 1 hammering in the one-day internationals. On the South African leg, Australia won the test series 2 - 1 with the Proteas coming back to win both T20's. Now the ODi's lie ahead and possibly a 4 - 1 beating for the South Africans in the series. Could there be another twist in this remarkable! duel between the world's top two cricket playing nations?

I tend to think not. Yes, the home and away series' have been complete mirror images but surely Australia can't win the ODI's by the same margin the Proteas did. All we can do is watch the final chapter of this intriguing series unfold.

It all starts at Kingsmead this afternoon when the two teams go head to head in the first one-dayer. This is the same venue where Aussie spearhead Mitchell Johnson gave Proteas captain Graeme Smith an unwanted rest by breaking his finger during the second test. It's also the venue where South Africa were bowled out for a poultry 138 in that same test so the Aussies will feel the ground has been smiling on them of late.

On the other hand, the Proteas are fresh off that T20 clean-sweep and it must've done wonders for their confidence heading into the ODI's. There aren't too many changes from the T20 team to the ODI team so they'll d! efinitely carry over the momentum.

Despite Jacques ! Kallis' unavailability, the starting eleven still look very strong with a top five comprising of Smith, Gibbs, Amla, De Villiers and Duminy. You get the sense at least one these batsmen will go all the way today. The bowling attack doesn't look that bad either with Steyn, Morne Morkel and Ntini as the frontline seamers and Albie Morkel the medium-pacer and of course the talismanic Johan Botha as the sole spinner. Definitely a side that can do the business tonight, but as the old adage goes, a game is not won on paper.

Honda will go young

This week the Formula One world will begin their assault on the 2009 season at Barcelona. Honda will obviously be there but they will be bringing some young blood to the party.

Last month I discussed that Honda must choose wisely in terms of drivers and it is shaping up that they will go young. The question is which young driver will partner Jenson Button in 2009? http://formulaoneamerica.blogspot.com/2008/10/honda-need-to-choose-wisely.html

Honda will test a pair of young Brazilians; GP2 and Renault test driver Lucas Di Grassi and GP2 driver Bruno Senna, nephew of 3 times F1 champion, the late Ayrton Senna. I had previously discussed Renault race driver Nelson Piquet (another Brazilian) but thanks to a solid finish to the season, Nelson Piquet will again be paired with Fernando Alonso in 2009. However, it does not change Honda's premise....go young.

The fact that Honda's Nick Fry is quoted in saying "I think it is important that we bring some fresh blood into F1" and has told Barrichello he is free to seek opportunities elsewhere is a great sign that Honda is shifting focus. Another but more subtle sign is Jenson Button's posturing that Honda keep Barrichello. It is clear that Button needs an external motivator; a young driver to potentially build around that will threaten Button's job security is exactly that. I am not sure Button likes it but it is what he needs in that let us remember that Button was beaten by Barrichello in 2008, 11 points to 3 points.

Also in terms of speed, in the 3 years they have been teammates Button and Barrichello are only separated by .011 seconds. Moreover, Button only holds a 27 to 26 advantage in start position. Either Barrichello was that quick or Button suffered from "Kimi-itis" and lacked the necessary interest the last couple of seasons. Honda team boss Ross Brawn thinks! they are indeed closely matched. However, I think it is the l! atter. < br />
In any event, another interesting and clear aspect about the drivers Honda are bringing is that these young drivers are Brazilian and in my opinion it is not coincidence (Barrichello is also Brazilian). Let us not forget there is a marketing component to racing and Honda seem keen to keep the South American connection with a choice of Di Grassi or Senna. All one needed to do is watch the Brazilian Grand Prix to see the support that the Brazilian fans will give their countrymen, i.e. Ferrari's Felipe Massa. A choice of a qualified, young Brazilian driver will keep or raise Honda's profile in the region.

Nevertheless, we must see how Di Grassi and Senna perform in the car; how they interact with the engineers, how their speed develops and to see if they are requested to come to another test. I will be watching the times that these drivers set, but it will be through the lens of what is the test program and what is the feedback from the team. Still, at ! this point I would be shocked if the choice is not one of these drivers.

Honda must go young while Button is still a viable barometer and develop new talent that can just focus on being fast and not minimize mistakes. If for some reason they keep Barrichello or go with another veteran driver, it will be a mistake that Honda will regret for the foreseeable future.

George Gillett To Sell Half His Stake In Liverpool To Arab Investor

Liverpool co-owner George Gillett is flying to Saudi Arabia next week for talks in a bid to sell his 50 per cent stake to Prince Faisal bin Fahd.

Gillett is due to arrive in the Middle East on Wednesday and is scheduled for a three-day stay to sort out the deal with the Prince's advisers and his financial company F6 Sports.

Prince Faisal has been at Anfield as a guest of Gillett and - despite the American's denials - a sale is top of the agenda to be done rather than just an investment.

Gillett can sell his half of the Kop and leave the Ara! bs to deal with his partner Tom Hicks if they want complete control – or they may prefer to work with the Texan.

The 70-year-old Gillett is so keen to sell up that he is going to travel to the Arab's territory to conclude the transaction - with sources in the Middle East convinced that this will happen.

Prince Faisal's investment company has allies in the banking world and they would look at Liverpool as a club to make their name - and with potential for development down the line.

The Arab is looking to become a major player and building a new Anfield would make the business world look up to him. He certainly has the cash behind him to fulfil the plans that the Americans gave up on.

There are no figures being released on what Gillett is looking to get for his share in Liverpool but it is anticipated that the deal will be good enough to get him out of his current hole.

Gillett has tried to appease the club's fans but he ! knows that his lack of funds leaves Liverpool's support frustr! ated - a nd puts a strain on their bid to stay as a top four force.

Palermo Defender Simon Kjaer Drops Liverpool Hint

Palermo centre-back Simon Kjaer has dropped yet another strong hint that he could leave Sicily next year.

The 20-year-old has impressed in Serie A after joining the Rosanero in the summer of 2008 and has been frequently linked with Turin giants Juventus, but he has confessed that English giants Liverpool might be his first choice.

"I am only thinking of the World Cup at the moment and then we'll see," the defender told La Gazzetta dello Sport.

"However, it is true that my family and I support Liverpool, but the transfer market has nothing to do with it."

Denmark qualified for next summer's showpiece event in South Africa at the expense of Scandinavian rivals Sweden, as Kjaer kept Zlatan Ibrahimovic at bay in a crucial 1-0 victory.

"It was a great satisfaction," he mused.

"Zlatan is really strong in the air and is so tall that you can't keep up with him an! d you need to anticipate him.

"As for the World Cup, I hope to play alongside [Daniel] Agger as he is my idol. But I first need to play 35 more games at the highest level this term."

Liverpool Manager Rafael Benitez Pleased With Gerrard & Torres FIFA Nominations, Praises Mascherano

Liverpool manager Rafael Benitez has hailed the World Player of the Year nominations received by silky striker Fernando Torres and talismanic attacker Steven Gerrard; indicating that it bodes well for the club that two of their influential stars have won external commendation.

The Spanish gaffer also noted the increased form of Argentine battler Javier Mascherano insisting that he believes the midfield anchor is returning to his best form.

"We were worried at the beginning of the season because we had some problems and Argentina needed to qualify for the World Cup," the former Valencia boss is reported to have told the press.

"I think he was very good ag! ainst [Manchester] United, so now he's coming back. His commitment is always fantastic."

Furthermore, there was heightened speculation regarding Mascherano's future due to the reported interest from Catalan kings Barcelona.

"We knew about speculation with Barcelona but at this moment he's doing really well, his training is fantastic and he is playing at the same level he was before," Benitez added.

Regarding the FIFA World Player of the Year nominations, Benitez claimed that it was a compliment to Liverpool as a club, as well as to the players as individuals.

"It's really good and important for the club," he noted.

"We know they are top-class players. They deserve to be there.

"It's positive to have two there, and it could be more in the future. We are really pleased for them."

2009 Cincinnati Bengals NFL Draft Rundown

For the first time in a long time I'm happy with the state of the Cincinnati Bengals after the NFL Draft. Every year I sit on the couch and criticize at least three or more moves they make, this year it's hard to find one, at least in the first four rounds. Also, it seems the critics and sports analysts are agreeing with me and ranking the Bengals draft class as one of the best, if not the best in the NFL. Listed below is the Bengals draft including each players 2008 stats.

1 6(6) Andre Smith OT Alabama
Good news for Carson Palmer because Smith considers the QB to be his mother.... all I know is the guy is a beast and only let up 1 sack in the toughest conference in college football last year.

2 6(38) Rey Maualuga ILB USC
The man reecks havoc on the field and intimidates offensive lineman. Although he took a step back last year in the sack column he still produced solid numbers on a linebacker heavy team: 80 tackles, 2 interception, 1 to! uchdown.

3 6(70) Michael Johnson DE Georgia Tech
This could be the teams biggest sleeper in the draft. Not to be confused with the track star, Johnson, was a stud for the Yellow Jackets putting together 45 tackles, 9 sacks and an interception which led to a touchdown last year. We need someone that can pressure the quarterback, and this 6'7 freak could fill the void over time.

3 34(98) Chase Coffman TE Missouri
So you're telling me I have to retire my Ben Utecht jersey already? Coffman put up huge pass catching numbers last year recording 90 reception for 987 yards and 10 touchdowns! He broke his ankle and like Michael Crabtree couldn't participate in the NFL combine, which led his stock falling in the draft.

4 6(106) Jonathan Luigs OC Arkansas
Was voted the top center in college football after his junior season, all while blocking for Darren McFadden. He had a topsy-turvy year in 2008 under a new coach but he has to be a! s good as Eric Ghiacuc.....right?

5 6(142) Kevin Hu! ber PT C incinnati
Love this pick! Huber was voted the best punter in college football the past two seasons and it's great to see a deserving homegrown boy fulfill his childhood dream. Anyone that averages over 45 yards a punt and pins there opponents inside the twenty 25+ times a year is okay in my book.

6 6(179) Morgan Trent CB Michigan
This is the first Bengals pick that I started to question. thought there were better corners available at the time but Marvin and the gang remembered Trent during there days of scouting Leon Hall at the University of Michigan. Trent put up 41 tackles and recorded 3 interceptions for the struggling Wolverines.

6 36(209) Bernard Scott RB Abilene Christian
Here we go.... it seems like the Bengals pick a guy each year with a troubled past and Scott fits the bill. We like giving guys "second chances", especially when they put up insane number like Scott has: 2,156 yards on the ground and 28 touchdowns, couple th! at with 47 reception for 826 yards and six touchdowns, ridiculous!

7 6(215) Taufui Vakapuna RB Brigham Young
My favorite Cincinnati athlete name since Wily Mo Pena. He will be fighting for the fullback spot with Jeremi "Give me a Big Mac" Johnson. He did record 291 yards on the ground for 3 scores last season.

7 40(249) Clinton McDonald DT Memphis
Seven sacks in his senior campaign and was named a 1st team all C-USA selection. He'll be fighting for a spot on the roster to say the least.

7 43(252) Freddie Brown WR Utah
Chris Henry's physique without the baggage (6'4, 215 lbs.) Caught 77 balls for 900 yards and 7 scores last year. Why not draft Quann Cosby here?

NBA Draft Recap

-Keefe

Here are just a few observations from last night's NBA Draft.

-I could not be more thrilled about what the Celtics did. Going into the night they held the #30 and #60 picks. What can they do there? Well Danny Ainge has always drafted well late in the first and in the second. In my piece Don't Ignore Round 2, I mentioned 3 players I thought could be sleepers in this draft. They were Bill Walker, D.J. White, and J.R. Giddens. I'm giddy, for lack of a better word, at what the C's were able to do. D.J. White went 29, so they didn't even have a chance for him, plus he plays the same spot as Leon Powe and Glen Davis. He's a good pick, but not for Boston. Instead they go after uber talented J.R. Giddens who went to Kansas out of high school only to transfer to New Mexico. He could turn in to a nice shooter/ scorer off the bench.

-Bill Walker was a 2nd round pick? I'm splitting the Celtics break down up a little bit, because Walker de! serves his own space. Outside of the top tier, Walker is my favorite player in this draft. He was a high school teammate of O.J. Mayo, where they won back-to -back state titles in Ohio, and before they could make it 3 in a row, Walker was deemed ineligble. This caused quite the turn of events. Walker, at the time, was one of the best "juniors" in the country and was supposed to be a part of one of the best senior classes that consisted of the likes of Mayo, Michael Beasley, Kevin Love, Jerryd Bayliss, Derrick Rose, and Eric Gordon. Rather than sitting out the season, and feeling sorry for himself Walker took excellerated courses to graduate from high school early and enroll in college. He had to do this, of course, because high school players can not enter the NBA Draft. An article in ESPN the Magazine stated that Bill Walker may have been the first casuality of the no high school rule.

Walker graduated high school, and decided to go to the school coached by Bob ! Huggins, Kansas State. Huggins, the long time coach at Cincinn! ati, had built a relationship with both Walker and O.J. Mayo while in between jobs while the boys were at North College Hill High School in Cincy. (Mayo transferred from North College Hill once he knew Walker would not return. Mayo went back to Huntington, WV and teamed with now Kentucky star Patrick Patterson.) So Walker became one of the best freshmen in the country at K-State. He had to sit out based on NCAA rules an X number of games, but when he came back he played well. Until he blew out his knee. Walker red shirted, and came back to school for another year. This time, however, without Bob Huggins, and playing in the shadow of Michael Beasley.

With all that said Bill Walker is one of the most athletic players in the entire draft. Can he stay healthy? That, of course, will be the key. I'm not sure how much either Giddens or Walker will play next year for the Celtics, particularly if they re-sign James Posey, but I'll be rooting for them the whole way.

-Cel! tics used their 60th pick on 7'1 center from Turkey named Semih Erden. Not a bad idea to draft a foreign player when you have extra picks. Keep him over seas and see what happens.

-Speaking of foreign players, the 1st one selected was Italian Danilo Gallinari by the Knicks at 6. The fans booed the pick, but this could work. It's going to be a long turnaround for New York, so I don't see the need to take a guy who can help right now. Help what?

-The Miami Heat fooled everyone. They don't want Michael Beasley? Really? Great draft by the gang in South Beach. Beasley, and Kansas teammates Mario Chalmers and Darnell Jackson in the 2nd round. Great job. A lot of new "Big 3's" following the draft, and one of the most formidible is the Heat's 3 of D.Wade, Shawn Marion, and Michael Beasley.

-The Bucks trades and picks leave them with a core of Michael Redd, Richard Jefferson, and Joe Alexander. Not bad. The Nets giving up Jefferson for Yi and Bobby S! immons still leavs me scratching my head.

-The Nets! did mak e the most of their 3 draft picks though. Brook Lopez at 10, Ryan Anderson (the leading scorer in the Pac-10) at 21, and Chris Douglas-Roberts in the 2nd round. They'll need all the help they can get after dealing Jefferson for a pair of bodies.

-The Bobcats are not a fan of their current point guard Raymond Felton (#5 pick in '05) as they select Texas PG D.J. Augustin with the 9th overall pick. This right after the ESPN crew said Charlotte should get help up front. Oops.

-Pacers work a few trades and walk away with Brandon Rush and Roy Hibbert. I like Rush a lot, think he can help them right away. T.J. Ford, Danny Granger, Brandon Rush, Mike Dunleavy... without O'Neal they're going to need Hibbert to play.

-T-Wolves and Grizz worked a late night trade. O.J. Mayo for Kevin Love and Mike Miller as well as both teams swapping horrible contracts. Could work out for both teams. Doesn't look like Mayo will play poing guard in Memphis though, like ! he would have to play in Minny.

-Jerryd Bayliss joins an unbelievably young and fun team up in Portland. The youngster from Arizona can play both guard spots much like new teammate and former Rookie of the Year, Brandon Roy. Bayliss will have competition from his own team for that award, as Greg Oden makes his much anticipated return.

-The Sonics made 5 picks. The more the merrier I guess.

-And if you're a fan of the Hawks, Nuggets, or Hornets, pretty boring night, as those teams combined for a grand total of 0 picks.

-Now we still need the dust to settle on some of these trades. Starting on July 1st we will see a lot more shake up in the NBA with signing free agents and even more trades. I'm already looking forward to what should be another exciting year in the NBA.

Quest for G

As Keefe posted yesterday, KG is likely out for the playoffs. I certainly agree that laying in bed with Kathy Bates standing over me might be a more comforting feeling than this. But what are ya gonna do? That being said, I was out having dinner and drinks with my buddy Kevin last night and the top of KG and his "Quest for G" came up. I thought the video on YouTube was popular, but apparently it's not as popular as I thought because neither he nor the bartender had seen it. It's high comedy, and something worth sharing. In fact, I'm wondering, have I shared this video already on here? Regardless, watch it anyway, it's worth the nine minutes of your time. I'm not sure what's funnier, the goat at the beginning and KG's reaction when he knows his name, "Ego", or Game 7. Check it out, and please note KG's supporting cast...ridiculous.

Needless to say, let's pray that "hope springs", and KG is healthy enough to return late in the playoffs to once again lead his troops against the might "Game 7."

BJal's Lock du Jour - Monday, October 18

Today was my first day back at work after battling strep throat all of last week. What a grind that was. I wish strep upon no one, it is absolutely horrendous. I can't get on here and post shit during the day because my client, which is where I work, is real strict about websites and what not. Apparently I can sit on ESPN.com and visit every MMA website in the world, but it's illegal to go on Facebook or update my stupid blog. So BJal didn't text me his lock until I was already halfway down 495 this morning and at that point, there was no chance of me getting it up in time.

He's going with tonight's Monday Night Football game tonight between the Chargers and Broncos, taking the under on a line of 44 points. Not sure if you're following, but it's already 20-17 San Diego. I'd say he's screwed. I'm not sure what's worse, BJal at picking games or the special teams play in this one. In the first half alone Eddie Royal has returned a kickoff and a punt for a TD and Darr! en Sproles took a punt return to the house. Seriously, is it that hard to cover this stuff?

By the way, everyone will point to Girardi taking out Robertson and putting in Aceves as a huge managerial gaffe tonight, but what about when Scioscia blatantly outcoached him in the 8th? Posada was up and Gardner had been inserted as a pinch runner at first. Scioscia called a pitchout and they hosed him at second. Next pitch, Posada goes yahtzee to tie the game at four, except it should have been a 5-4 Yankees lead and eventually a 3-0 series lead. Woops.

BJal's Lock du Jour: Under 44 points - Chargers/Broncos MNF game
Overall: 4-8

P.S. Great pick yesterday taking the Titans, buddy. I really thought you had em there in the 2nd quarter.

Turkish Super Lig Review

Fenerbahce took a three-point lead in the Super Lig standings with a 2-1 win at Antalyaspor.

Former Sheffield United wide man Kazim Kazim gave Fener a 10th-minute lead but Ali Zitouni cancelled out that advantage 11 minutes later.

A draw looked on the cards until the final minute when Turkey international Semih Senturk, on as a 50th-minute substitute, grabbed a winner which maintained Fenerbahce's 100% start to the league season with seven games now played.

! Galatasaray can join them on maximum points if they beat Eskisehirspor tomorrow.

Bursaspor are third, five points adrift of Gala, after a 4-0 win at home to Diyarbakirspor. Volkan Sen got the thrashing under way after half an hour and goalkeeper Dimitar Ivankov added a second from the penalty spot three minutes into the second half.

Ivan Ergic made it 3-0 after 65 minutes and half-time substitute Ozan Ipek added the fourth with 15 minutes left.

Ankaragucu gained their first win of the season away at Gaziantepspor as a Metin Akan double helped them to a 3-1 win, while Istanbul Buyuksehir beat Sivasspor 1-0 with a last-minute goal from Marcus Vinicius.

Australia A-League Review

Defending champions Melbourne Victory moved top of the A-League after a late strike secured a first home win of the season.

Adrian Leijer's goal sealed an entertaining 2-1 win over Brisbane Roar at Etihad Stadium, whilst Perth Glory were earlier denied a win against basement side North Queensland Fury which would have put them clear at the top.

Leijer netted with 17 minutes remaining as Melbourne took advantage of leaders Gold Coast United being held goalless by We! llington Phoenix yesterday. Victory moved up from sixth into a one-point lead after recording a third straight win.

Sydney can claim top spot outright with victory against Central Coast tomorrow, although a win for the Mariners would leave them level on points with Melbourne at the top of a congested table after nine rounds.

Ney Fabiano handed Melbourne an ideal start after just four minutes as he met Archie Thompson's cross with a diving header from the penalty spot which gave Brisbane goalkeeper Liam Reddy no chance.

The visitors were back on level terms just seven minutes later though as Reinaldo fired through the legs of Glen Moss from just inside the area.

Following a superb run and pass from the lively Fabiano, Thompson rattled the Brisbane crossbar after 20 minutes before Fabiano struck the post with the last action of an entertaining first half.

But Melbourne were finally rewarded as Leijer bundled Carlos Hernandez's free-kick past! Reddy at the far post after winning the initial header before! firing home following a fortunate bounce.

Earlier in Perth, 10-man North Queensland earned a controversial 1-1 draw at ME Bank Stadium.

North Queensland's Ufuk Talay was given a second yellow card just before the break for simulation and Glory took advantage just three minutes into the second half as Mile Sterjovski converted from the penalty spot.

Perth opted to defend in an attempt to preserve their lead but with 18 minutes remaining Glory goalkeeper Tando Velaphi appeared to be bundled over the line by Chris Grossman after collecting John Tambouras' header under the crossbar only for referee Ben Williams to allow the goal, which was credited to Tambouras.

Perth pressed for a winner in the closing stages but were frustrated by a resolute North Queensland defence and Glory were forced to settle for third place behind Gold Coast on goal difference.

Anabel rewarded for perfect game

Anabel Medina Garrigues made it through to the second round of the BGL Luxembourg Open with a straight-sets defeat of Arantxa Parra Santonja.

Medina Garrigues did not serve any aces in contrast to her fellow Spaniard's nine but she also did not produce any double faults while Parra Santonja had seven as the former ran out a 7-5 6-2 winner in the US dollars 220,000 tournament.

Sabine Lasicki, seeded sixth, also made it through, serving nine aces in her 6-1 6-4 defea! t of Iveta Benesova.

Carla Suare Navarro, seeded eighth, was pushed all the way however by Mandy Minella of Luxembourg before eventually triumphing 7-5 5-7 6-3.

There are more than 200 ranking places between the pair but it took the Spaniard more than two hours 20 minutes to progress.

Laura Robson failed to make it through qualifying though, falling to Maria Elena Camerin 6-3 6-4 in the final round.

The Italian though is ranked more than 350 places higher than the young Briton and was ranked eighth in qualifying.

Top seed Caroline Wozniacki starts her attempt tomorrow with a game against Melanie Oudin while second seed Kim Clijsters - who defeated the Dane to win the US Open - opens against Meghan Shaughnessy.

Ukrainian SuperLiga Saturday Review

Dynamo Kiev opened up a seven-point lead at the top of the Superliga with a 2-0 victory away to Dnipro.

Romanian Tiberiu Ghioane and Ukraine international Artem Milevskiy netted the goals in the 72nd and 87th minutes to put the pressure on second-placed Shakhtar Donetsk, who will aim to cut the gap back to four points at Zakarpattya tomorrow.

Dnipro's defeat allowed Metallurg Donetsk to go third as they beat Chornomorets 2-0 at home with goals from Joao Pedro Gonsa! lves and Henrikh Mkhitarian in either half.

Obolon Kiev moved within two points of sixth-placed Tavria Symferopol after beating them 2-0, Arsenal Kiev beat bottom side Kryvbas 2-1 and Karpaty Lviv and Metallurg Zaporizhzhya played out an exciting 3-3 draw.

New Zealand 32 Australia 19

The Bledisloe Cup game between New Zealand and Australia on Saturday October 31, 2009.

New Zealand completed a 4-0 Bledisloe Cup sweep over Australia, their first clean sweep since 1972, by winning the Tokyo Test.

Scoring two tries to one, New Zealand benefited from a 22-point haul from fly-half Dan Carter, who converted both tries and landed six penalty goals and achieved 200 points in Tests against Australia in the process.

It was a more committed Australian side who showed they had regained their physicality to put the experience of We! llington and their 33-6 loss to the All Blacks in their last encounter behind them.

But they were still unable to find the finesse to put the All Blacks under sufficient pressure.

Number eight Wycliff Paul twice went close to scoring, being held up on the line the first time, and losing the ball in the tackle the second time.

Handling mistakes proved costly on several occasions for the Wallabies.

Half-back Will Genia, inside centre Adam Ashley-Cooper and wing Digby Ioane were each slippery on attack but were unable to head off the All Blacks cover defence.

New Zealand's performance was not as dominant as in Wellington but with all the emphasis on coaching changes the lineout proved more competitive from the outset.

Australia did make the most of the sin-binning of wing Sitiveni Sivivatu after a dangerous tackle on an airborne Ashley-Cooper and wing Peter Hynes was awarded a controversial ! try soon after when referee Mark Lawrence became frustrated! at the delay in the decision-making of a Japanese television match official.

Earlier, clever All Blacks handling overcame determined Australian defence to produce the first try of the game after Matt Giteau had landed two penalty goals to one by Dan Carter.

Carter took a heavy hit but still managed to recycle the ball and half-back Jimmy Cowan threw a long pass to flanker Richie McCaw who in-passed to lock Tom Donnelly.

He linked with full-back Mils Muliaina and he found McCaw in support and his pass outside found wing Sitiveni Sivivatu in the clear.

Carter landed a conversion from wide out for a 10-6 lead.

Giteau and Carter exchanged penalty goals in the 29th and 30th minutes.

Australia struck back after Sivivatu's sin-binning and moved the ball to wing Peter Hynes, with Genia firing a long pass from a maul.

Hynes was in the clear but three All Blacks cover defenders looked to get him as ! he dived at the line. Referee Mark Lawrence called for the television match official to see if Hynes grounded the ball short of the line.

Initial replays were inconclusive but Lawrence lost patience with the amount of time taken and ruled the try had been scored. Giteau landed a fine conversion to give Australia a 16-13 lead.

Moments later, after some poor All Blacks decision-making, Palu ran off the back of a scrum toward the line but was unable to ground the ball as Cowan got under him and the All Blacks were able to survive until the half-time whistle.

Sivivatu marked his return with a 60-metre kick which hit the corner post and when Australia cleared downfield Muliaina ran the ball upfield to link with Carter.

From the maul the ball was moved to wing Cory Jane standing at first receiver.

He threaded through the defence and passed to centre Conrad Smith who stepped through the Australians and we! nt over for a 45th-minute try.

Penalty goals to Cart! er took the All Blacks to a 26-16 lead before Giteau landed his fourth to bring Australia back to the seven-point margin.

But almost immediately Carter landed a fifth penalty goal to regain the 10-point margin.

Carter's fourth penalty goal brought up his 200th point in Tests against Australia.

The New Wembley Stadium: Home To English Football

by Paul McIndoe

For any soccer fan, a visit to the new Wembley Stadium is a must. Not only is it one of the world's most outstanding modern stadiums, but is host to the best of English football and features a veritable 'footie-fest' of the nation's leading cup finals and Football League play-offs every season.

The Football Association - the sport's governing body - is planning a £12million move of its administrative headquarters from Soho Square to the new Stadium during July 2009. As Wembley is also the home venue for all of England's international fixtures - including the qualifying games for the 2010 World Cup Finals - the move will firmly establish the stadium as the 'home of English football'.

As the English football season progresses towards its climax in May, Wembley hosts a number of prestigious finals including the traditional finale to the football season - the FA Cup Final. But, before that the cup final season begins in either l! ate February or early March with the staging of the Carling Cup Final. This show piece cup competition of the Football League will celebrate its 50th anniversary at Wembley in 2010.

Next up is the Johnstone's Paint Trophy Final played at Wembley in early April. This competition is exclusively for clubs that compete in League One and League Two of the Football League. The 2009 final was an absolute thriller with Luton beating Scunthorpe 3-2 after extra time in front of a substantial lower league football crowd of 53,378.

In May the games come thick and fast at the Stadium, starting with the FA Trophy Final and FA Vase Final, played on successive days on the second weekend of the month.

Next, and still in May, the Football League hosts the Play-off finals when the last promotion spots for The Championship, League One and League Two are decided. Indeed, The Football League Championship play-off final - normally played on late May Bank Holida! y Monday - is billed as football's most lucrative 'one-off' ga! me. The winners will be promoted to the Barclays Premier League and with that comes access to lucrative TV money.

Finally, the last weekend in May sees the traditional season finale; the FA Cup final. This is one of the few 'protected' games to be televised live on terrestrial channels and is the daddy of all football competition finals. As you can see, May is also the month when the owners of London hotels - particularly those situated around Wembley - rub their hands in glee at the glut of 'no vacancies' signs, as they accommodate the thousands of football fans travelling to the capital to watch their teams in action.

But, fans of football that can't get a ticket to a game at Wembley needn't despair. They can still access the stadium and sample its marvellous features at first-hand by buying a Stadium tour ticket.

fonte:acmilan.it

Juventus: La procura antidoping convoca i medici Juve

In panchina tornano Costa e Brienza. L'Ancona adesso domina in lungo e in largo.

In casa facciamo pochi punti?

Vittoria a sorpresa dell'Ancona a Livorno. Si infiammano le lotte per la zona play-off e play-out. Segnate ben 33 reti.

I lombardi agganciano la zona play-off.

Riminesi sempre a metà classifica.

Classifica dopo 31 giornate: Bari 60, Parma 58, Livorno 53, Sassuolo e Brescia 50, Triestina 48, Albinoleffe 48, Empoli 47, Grosseto 45, Piacenza 43, Pisa 42, Ancona 41, Ascoli (-2) e Rimini 40, Vicenza 39, Frosinone e Mantova 37, Salernitana 36, Cittadella 35, Modena 32, Treviso (-1) 30, Avellino (-2) 28.

Prossimo turno, 33^g. 29/3/2009 ore 15.00: Al binoleffe - Treviso, Ancona – Empoli, Brescia – Livorno, Cittadella – Modena, Frosinone – Triestina, Grosseto – Mantova, Parma – Piacenza, Sassuolo – Avellino, Vicenza – Salernitana, Pisa – Bari (ore 20.45), Rimini – Ascoli (lunedì 30/3 ore 20.45).

REFERENDUM SUPER-LEGA

E' possibile rispondere solo SI o NO, spiegando! il PERCHE'.

Votate.

Ciao, Raffaele
