Federer confirms Canadian return

Federer's joy at making tennis history was followed by father

Roger Federer will return to action at the ATP Rogers Cup in Montreal (10-16 August) after becoming a father.

Federer's wife Mirka gave birth to twin girls in July, soon after his historic 15th Grand Slam victory at Wimbledon.

He told his website: "After the wonderful experiences over the past days i! t is my pleasure to inform you that I will be playing in Montreal.

"As I was able to find enough time to practise these past weeks, I feel fit and full of energy."

Federer, who turns 28 on 8 August, won the Canadian event, which alternates between Montreal and Toronto with a WTA event, in 2004 and 2006.

The Rogers Cup, part of the Masters 1000 series, will also see the return of world number two and defending champion Rafael Nadal after his length lay-off with knee problems.

The Spaniard has been off the tour since being upset by Robin Soderling in the fourth round a! t the French Open in May.

It was his first defeat at Ro! land Gar ros where he had been the champion for four successive years.
