The Baltimore Orioles have announced time changes for upcoming games against the Boston Red Sox. The Red Sox requested the changes to avoid an overlap with Games 3 and 4 of the NBA Finals between the Boston Celtics and the Los Angeles Lakers.

Tuesday, June 10, game will begin at 6:05 p.m. on MASN HD
Thursday, June 12, game will begin at 6:05 p.m. on MASN HD

The Orioles pre-game show, O's Xtra will begin at 5:30 p.m. on both days.

Yes, America --- The Rays Are Headed to the World Series...

The Rays are in the World Series! If anyone picked them in March to play for it all -- you're lying. It seems like all of America -- aside from Red Sox fans -- were picking them to advance to the promised land, and finally, it looks the doormats of the AL East and the laughing stock of baseball for so many years has made it.

What can we say about David Price! This game was his coming out party, and did he literally save Tampa Bay from eminent disaster by pitching 1 1/3 innings -- striking out J.D. Drew with the bases juiced to the end the 8th -- and struck out two in the final frame to get the save.

Matt Garza pitched the game of his life, earning the win -- along with the second of the ALCS -- and making only one mistake -- Pedroia's first inning solo home run. Aside from that, Garza was a good as you could get. His counterpart on the mound, Lester was good -- going seven strong and giving up three runs -- but, it was not nearly enough.
The Rays were on, and it showed after two devastating losse! s in the ALCS.

Evan Longoria tied the game in the fourth inning to plate Carlos Pena, and they took the lead in the follow frame as Rocco Badelli plated Wily Aybar with a single. In the bottom the seventh, Aybar hit a solo home run -- an important insurance run -- to put them ahead for good.

Both bullpens kept their team in it, but Tampa held on and got the monkey off their back.

After ten years of futility, being made fun of, and being the doormats of baseball, th! e Rays have made it to the World Series, and it's just unbelievable.

You've got to give it to the Red Sox -- they took the Rays to the limit and nearly came back, but it was not enough this time around.

The Tampa team making it to the Series gives teams like the Baltimore Orioles and small market hope that if they manage and scout talent carefully, stick to a plan -- your finances and market size should not make being successful insurmountable.

Again, I can't believe I am saying this -- the Rays are the American League Champions and are headed to the World Series.

The New Economic Reality May Hit The Orioles

Just read this on Peter Schmuck's blog, and this really, really caught my eye.

I have been a victim of the changing economic times -- albeit, in a minor fashion -- however, it looks like it may affect the Baltimore Orioles for next season.

Well, we all don't have access to the company books, nor do we know if the team made or lost money in 2008; alas, it looks like there's going to be some financial tightening taking place at the Yard.

The Baltimore Sun: If you doubt that baseball teams are going to feel the effects of the economic downturn, I'm hearing that the Orioles recently notified game-day employees that they are downsizing their stadium staff for the upcoming season and will need many of them only for the higher-attendance games.

I know some staff who work there -- whether they are u! shers, or people who work the various concession stands -- and some are retirees, some just love the ambiance of Camden Yards, and for others it is supplemental income on top of their everyday jobs.

If you combine Schmucks's report along with the low attendance, the news doesn't only resonate in the park, but outside it with vendors, the hospitality industry, and museums (especially Sports Legends) who depend on foot traffic.

It goes without saying -- if foot traffic suffers and people are not willing to open up their pocketbooks to spend money, someone is going to get hurt when the economy slides.

Just sad. Very sad. The economy may be flatlining, but eleven years of losing by the Orioles has also made this new reality happen as businesses were seemingly in a world of hurt already.

Luke Scott Not Keen On Being The New DH; Around the Blogosphere...

With Spring Training around the corner, the Baltimore Orioles roster -- barring any more deals or trades -- is shaping up. However, from the looks of things, one guy may already not be happy as to the organization's future plans.

Luke Scott yesterday was on MASN's Playmakers and let Birdland know that his defined role in 2009 may be as the regular designated hitter, not as the left fielder due the acquisition of Felix Pie. Therefore, he let his feelings be known about the situation, and one could assume from his words he's not keen to the idea.

Danys Baez on the Mound vs. the Cardinals...

This afternoon in Florida, the Baltimore Orioles take on the St. Louis Cardinals in Fort Lauderdale.

The lineups are posted on Roch's blog, and today we'll see much of the projected regular season lineup -- Roberts, Huff, Markakis, Mora, Izturis -- along with guys who will be given a look such as Craig Brazell, Justin Christian, Chad Moeller, and Nolan Reimold.

The Return of A-Rod, Sabathia Dominates; O's Makes Some Moves...

Last night, the circus -- I mean, Alex Rodriguez and the Yankees -- came into town, and the scene at Camden Yards was nothing short of a spectacle. In the end, the Yankees downed the Orioles, 4-0, and probably one of the most compelling athletes of all time -- Alex Rodriguez -- made a triumphant comeback and C.C. Sabathia had a banner outing on the mound.

Basically, the Orioles had no chance in this game -- except for Sabathia putting on two runners in the ninth -- as the big, portly lefty got his first shutout of the year and tossed a complete game, only allowing four hits and striking out eight.

The spotlight along with the eyes of the collective sporting and media world were on the beleagured Alex Rodriguez combined with all the pressure on him with the Yankees' poor start along with the drug allegations levied against him, everyone in the park was waiting to see how he would react. Fans were either in support of him -- mostly from the Yankees side -- or ! showed their disapproval with signs and some creative props including Styrofoam syringes, and a creative display that two fans held right behind me.

O-Mazing: Matusz Shines, Pie Hits Another Out..

After yet another deflating loss to the Indians, thanks to the bat of Andy Marte, the Orioles thanks to their young talent, turned it on. In the end, Baltimore beat Cleveland, 5-3, as Brian Matusz had his best showing on the mound to date throwing seven innings, striking out eight, and giving up a run, while Felix Pie continues to show why Andy MacPhail was so tnrealled with him in the off-season as he hit a two-run homer.

Baltimore took a 4-0 lead in the third inning as Ty Wigginton scored on an error, and Pie hit an opposite field homer -- a two run shot. A few moments later, Luke Scott added an RBI-single. They added another run in the sixth inning via a sacrifice fly by Brian Roberts.

Cleveland got their first run in the sixth as Grady Sizemore opened up the inning with a triple and then scored on a Jamey Carroll RBI single. They added another run in the eighth off Danys Baez as Shin-Soo Choo plated in a run with an RBI-infield single.

The Orioles! got their 54th win of the season; however, the story of the day has to be the success of Brian Matusz -- who really has only less than a year in professional baseball -- has stepped it up and delivered at the highest level today and Felix Pie.

Prucha Gets First Point As A Coyote

Petr Prucha got his first point as a member of the Phoenix Coyotes last night, getting the only assist on a Matthew Lombardi Power Play goal. It was the only goal of the game as the Coyotes were blown out 5-1 in Buffalo by the Sabres. Prucha had over 17 minutes of ice time, which was third amongst Phoneix forwards, behind Shane Doan and Matthew Lombardi.

Interesting Fact About The 1974 NHL Draft

Did you know that in the 1974 entry draft, Buffalo Sabres General Manager Punch Imlach deliberately selected an imaginary Japanese center, Taro Tsujimoto, supposedly of the Tokyo Katanas of the Japanese Ice Hockey League, in the 11th round (183rd overall)?

Only after weeks had passed did the league discover that Tsujimoto did not in fact exist. Imlach later revealed that he had played the prank because of his frustration with the excessive tedium and length of that year's draft proceedings.

Today, the league officially records the 183rd selection of the 1974 entry draft as an "invalid claim".

Kalau pertandingan sepakbola dimaknai sebagai sebuah produk untuk dan memang bisa dijual secara masal dengan imbalan uang, tidakkah kita sudah berbicara tentang sepakbola sebagai produk industri. Apa bed! anya sepakbola dengan mobil, pakaian, maupun benda-benda mater! ial lain nya.

Mengambil contoh sepakbola Inggris ditingkat klub, tidakkah tayangan sepakbola Inggris ini menjadi salah satu tayangan hiburan paling digemari di seluruh dunia? Bukankah berbagai belahan dunia berlomba-lomba menyiarkan pertandingan-pertandingan sepakbola Inggris dengan imbalan uang? Tidakkah sepakbola ini tak lebih sebuah produk ekspor yang menguntungkan? Berapa banyak orang di Inggris ini dihidupi oleh industri yang bernama sepakbola maupun segala sesuatu yang terkait dengannya?

Yang lebih menguntungkan lagi, berbeda dengan industri lain, sepakbola tidak perlu mengolah sumber alam ataupun semacamnya untuk menghasilkan produk. Tidak ada ancaman akan kehabisan sumber produksi. Yang perlu dipikirkan hanyalah agar mereka tidak mengabaikan perkembangan tekhnologi terbaru agar selalu bisa menjual produknya menggunakan tekhnologi mutakhir. Mengeruk keuntungan memanfaatkan tekhnologi terbaru.

Dalam konteks ini penayangan sepakbola via internet ! menjadi penting. Apalagi selama ini streaming siaran sepakbola via internet sudah jamak terjadi walau haram karena sekadar pembajakan dari siaran via televisi.

Untuk kasus penayangan pertandingan Inggris melawan Ukraina sendiri bisa dibayangkan kalau penggemar sepakbola Inggris menentangnya. Sudah salurannya terbatas, membayar pula.

No Handbags For Kanoute

Fredi Kanoute has openly stated that he wants to remain at Spurs and has no intention of joining West Bromich Albion.

As with every year, Tottenham are linked with nearly every available player on the planet. This year has been no different.

Spurs are being linked with strikers also, such as Dean Ashton of Norwich and PSV's massive striker Jan Vennegoor of Hesselink. Therefore, it is of no surprise that maybe Kanoute or Keane could be shown the door.

With Kanoute rumored to have angered Spurs head coach Martin Jol over not traveling with the team on their end of season tour to Mauritius, and not applying himself properly in the games he has played in, it would seem as though the Mal! i international's days at White Hart Lane are numbered.

With West Brom making another bid of around £4.8 million again last night, Kanoute has told the British tabloid newspaper, The Daily Star that he doesn't want to leave.

Kanoute went on to say: "There is talk of me moving to West Bromich Albion this summer but that isn't something that I would have done.

"I didn't have any contact with them (West Brom) and, to be honest, I wasn't really interested in joining them.

"There are rumors that I will move back to France but I really don't expect that to happen either. It isn't possible for many reasons.

"Look, I've said before, my preference would be to continue playing for Spurs, if the! y want me to."

Reports coming out of Spurs suggest that Kanoute will be on his way sooner rather than later with an unnamed club ready to make a bid.

Pirlo Pilih Atletico Ketimbang Chelsea

MILAN - Andrea Pirlo menjadi salah satu pemain AC Milan yang disebut-sebut akan mengikuti kepergian Carlo Ancelotti ke Chelsea. Status Pirlo yang terbuka untuk transfer diamati baik-baik oleh Chelsea dan belakangan, Atletico Madrid.

Menurut Marca, Pirlo lebih memilih pindah ke Atletico ketimbang bereuni dengan Ancelotti di Stamford Bridge. Alasannya sederhana, dia yakin kualitasnya lebih sepadan untuk sepakbola Spanyol.

Milan Jajaki Vucinic

MILAN - Belum jelasnya urusan transfer Luis Fabiano, AC Milan membidik satu nama alternatif untuk dijajaki. Penyerang didekati Rossoneri itu adalah pemain internasional Montenegro, Mirko Vucinic.
Menurut laporan Sky Italia, Milan menyiapkan dana 14 juta poundsterling plus winger muda yang baru mereka rekrut dari Torino, Ignazio Abate, untuk membawa Vucinic ke San Siro. Roma sendiri konon memberi banderol 16 juta pounds pada pemainnya itu.
Vucinic sudah tiga tahun berseragam Giallorossi, setelah e! nam musim bermain untuk Lecce. Meskipun perannya but Roma tergolong efektif, tapi ia tak terjamin sebagai starter. Langkah Perlahan Milan Menuju Kesuksesan

Pemegang rekor tak kebobolan selama 929 menit beruntun di Seri A itu juga maklum dengan aksi Milan di bursa transfer yang tidak merekrut pemain bintang untuk menggantikan Kaka. Menurutnya, tim yang tangguh memang harus dibentuk dulu sebelum merekerut pemain bintang.

Milan Siap Menyambut Beckham

MILAN — AC Milan menyambut baik keinginan David Beckham untuk kembali membela klub Italia tersebut, Januari nanti. Milan percaya bahwa kesepakatan dengan gelandang Inggris itu akan berjalan lancar.
"Kami masih mendiskusikan kemungkinan kesepakatan dan kami tahu, apa yang David bilang, itu berarti sedang ia pikirkan. Kami punya pendirian dan oleh sebab itu kami kira kami akan melanjutkan kesepakatan," kata Direktur Milan Umberto Gandini.

MILAN - Ada yang mengklaim kalau Silvio Berlusconi bilang bahwa sedang ada bencana di AC Milan. Untuk itu Berlusconi menyanggahnya dan menganggap kalau Rossonerri masih tim terbaik di dunia.
Semua ini bermula ketika pada perayaan ulang tahun Berlusconi, Selasa (30/9/2009) kemarin. Leeds v Liverpool preview

The two sides have not met for five years following three-time top-flight champions Leeds' relegation from the Premier League and a further demotion to League One.

In that time Liverpool's fortunes have differed significantly as the UEFA Champions League and FA Cup have been won in contrast to their opponent's fall from grace.

Leeds' slip down the football pyramid was also marred by financial difficulties as the 2001 European Cup semi-finalists were forced to sell their star players in order to stay afloat after gambling and missing out on Champions League qualification.

But Simon Grayson's side are now on the up again and are leading League One after a strong start to the season and excellent home form, raising optimism of an upset against Rafa Benitez's Reds.

Priorities
Benitez would admit that he has other priorities this campaign, but the Spaniard will also be keen to avoid a shock against lower league opponents as he bids! to end a trophy drought.

Grayson will know he has an excellent chance of stunning the Reds at a sold-out Elland Road, but the Leeds manager does face a selection dilemma over fit-again skipper Richard Naylor.

LIPPI:"CHE EMOZIONE RICOMINCIARE"
